digiKam is an advanced digital image management application for KDE that makes importing and organizing digital images a snap. The images are organized in albums that can be sorted chronologically, by folder layout or by custom collections.

Tired of folder restrictions? Don’t worry, digiKam also offers tagging. You tag your images that can be spread across multiple folders, and digiKam provides quick and intuitive ways to browse through these tagged images. You can also add comments to your photos. digiKam uses a fast and robust database to store this meta-information, making adding and editing comments and tags very reliable.

digiKam uses KIPI plugins for many additional features. KIPI (KDE Image Plugin Interface) is an initiative to create a common plugin infrastructure for digiKam, KPhotoAlbum and GwenView. The goal is to allow the development of image plugins that can be shared between KDE’s graphical applications.

An easy-to-use interface is provided that allows you to connect to the camera and preview, download and/or delete your images. Basic autotransforms can be implemented in an instant during image download.

Another tool that most artists and photographers will be familiar with is a light table. This tool helps artists and photographers review their work to ensure the highest quality. A classic light table will show the artist the place on the images to be corrected. Well in digiKam, the light table function gives the user a similar experience. You can import an image, drag it onto the light table and touch only the areas that need it.

Dear digiKam fans and users,

After three months of active maintenance and triaging other bugs, the digiKam team is proud to present version 7.10.0 of its open source digital photo processing software.

Bundles internal component updates

As with the previous releases, we take care of upgrading the internal components from the packages. Microsoft Windows Installer, Apple macOS Package, and Linux AppImage binaries are now hosted on:

• Qt Framework 5.15.8 LTS.
• KDE Framework 5.102.0.
• Libraw 0.21.1.
• Libjasper 4.0.0
• ExifTool 12.57.

All of these components include important stability improvements and fixes.
