Aladdin is a reliable program that allows you to obtain sky maps from dedicated services and analyze star properties, distances or coordinates. This astronomical analyzer allows you to associate images with coordinates, match object brightness, create cross-references, and draw shapes or contours.

Aladin is an easy-to-use application for viewing and analyzing digitized star maps and sky atlases. You can open astronomical images, surveys, or overlay data from astronomical catalogs. The application is capable of retrieving large collections of data, tables of information from Simbad databases, SkyBoT, NED or tasks and surveys from VizieR services.

Astronomical images that you can load and analyze can be obtained from servers such as SkyView+, UKIDSS, SDSS, VLA, DSS or other archives. Aladin provides a range of tools for selection, cross-reference creation or filter application. Additionally, you can view multiple images in parallel by switching to a multi-view split screen. You can use the mouse wheel to zoom in or out on the image.

Advanced Analysis Tools

Aladin displays some analysis tools in a panel on the right side of the window. You can easily calculate distances, measure overlay metering, draw contours, create labels, cross-reference or associate images to any point on the map. Additionally, you can adjust the contrast of selected images by modifying RGB layers, drawing contours or ellipses.

The software supports adding filters to astronomical images, such as marking the brightest and faintest stars, plotting the proper motion of celestial objects or the dimensions of galaxies. Also, you can superimpose the outline of the selected image on another image of your choice.
