Businesses that don’t have robust software to track all of their assets are more prone to deficiencies and mismanagement than the other way around. If you are still looking for such a tool and have not yet decided which one is best, you can choose AssetManage Standard. Tracking assets is what this utility does well, but it has many other features that drive its services to institutions and businesses around the world.

The interface may look a bit old, but this is just the Windows XP theme, which oddly enough is the default theme. If you’re not satisfied with the aesthetics, go to View on the toolbar and look at the App Appearance menu.

Meat and potatoes are not all about appearances, though. The first thing to set up is the location, if you have multiple branches. The location or main office contains data asset details such as purchase information, date, dealer, cost, model, department, price, physical description, etc. Images can also be attached so that your database is as complete as possible.

Even though five toolbar menus don’t seem like much, opening them up reveals how big they actually are. By focusing on the Actions tab, you can learn about the different ways to add items to the database manually, by scanning a barcode, or using your webcam. Additionally, you can check employees in and out and track their IDs, devices, or any other assigned assets.

As another example, “Tools” is a menu full of functions dedicated to creating, printing, and scanning barcodes and labels. You can access audit data, orphan records, and disposal or depreciation information.

AssetManage Standard can easily be compared to a Swiss Army Knife for almost any business. Whenever it comes to asset tracking and maintaining a clean and fully functional database, this application can help you get the job done.
