EightyOne is an open source emulator for the ZX computer made by Sinclair Research in the 1980s. The app is primarily aimed at ZX80 and ZX8 machines, but it can also simulate other ZX Spectrum models such as 16k/48k Spectrum, Spectrum+ or Spectrum 128.
There is no need to install it as the application is portable. Just double-click the main executable to launch it.
The main window shows the number of scanlines, the current FPS rate and the machine type. You can easily open new tapes and save snapshots. Remember that some examples are provided in the downloaded archive to give you a starting point when using the app.

ZX Spectrum models come with options that allow you to control the simulator. So feel free to change the size of the border, zoom level, or reverse the video if you wish.
Soft or hard reset and emulation pause options are available in the Control menu. You can also change display settings and image resolution, modify source and destination tapes.
Additional tools enable you to view real-time memory consumption, select printer output and WAV loader.
It is worth mentioning that the functionality of EightyOne can be enriched through various additional interfaces.
