Quickly insert special characters into any text application
No need to open the table to click on the characters, you just need to press the customizable keys on the keyboard to add them to the document. This will activate the program, so you can start typing the sequence to make the symbol appear. Of course, this means learning the sequence of commonly used symbols. However, WinCompose’s language is very intuitive because it mimics existing code. For example, the heart symbol can be inserted with <3.
Since no installation is required, you can extract the content from the downloaded archive and double-click the .exe to launch the application. It creates an icon in the system tray when it starts, and it lights up when you press the trigger (synthesizer) key to indicate that you can write a sequence to create characters.
Trigger keys to write sequences and create symbols
Remember, the trigger key must be set before each sequence. If the application does not recognize the sequence (by mistakenly pressing the key), WinComposer will be disabled.
By double-clicking the taskbar icon, you can bring up the main application window to view the entire character map with sequences and categories, use the search tool to quickly find a specific sequence, and hover the mouse over the symbol to preview the symbol.

The right-click menu of the tray icon makes it easy to access the settings panel, where you can set your preferred compose key, change the default delay time, and make other adjustments. For example, you can instruct the tool to play a tone on invalid sequences. In addition, it can discard all the characters you entered before.
