Backing up data to multiple storage locations is a smart decision, even though managing the extra drives can be time-consuming.

Manage all drives connected to your Mac from the menu bar

Available space is a minimalist status bar menu application that displays all drives, available partitions or network storage locations connected to your Mac.

In addition, the FreeSpace application allows you to view the free space on each drive and enables you to quickly eject them one by one (press the arrow button assigned to each drive) or all at the same time (click “Eject All” in the menu or use the Command + E hotkey).

The application organizes the available storage locations into logical groups based on the device type, such as local storage, external storage, and so on.

Keep an eye on the status of each drive to see if you are running out of space

To the right of each entry, you can see the amount of free space. If the reading is red, it means that free space has dropped below the percentage specified by the user in the Preferences menu.

FreeSpace comes with some customization options, which can be accessed through the preferences entry contained in the main menu.

You can choose to start the application when you log in, and you can decide what type of data to display in the menu bar: an icon or the free space of the currently selected volume, how many decimal places should be used, and whether you need to see units of measurement.

Integrate with Notification Center to send alerts about your storage devices

FreeSpace can display a notification message within the app or through the Notification Center every time you connect or eject a drive.

All in all, although FreeSpace is basic, it can be very useful if you use a lot of storage devices and need to keep track of them.
