The more devices we use, the more difficult it is to synchronize everything we need between them. It is easy to add a bookmark on a page or save a file to a device, but how to add it to a Mac, mobile phone, tablet or smart watch without any effort? Normally, you cannot do this. However, using third-party applications, it can become even simpler.
Gladys Is one of your choices. It is a native macOS application that can also be used for iPhone, iPad and Apple Watch, thus allowing you to save and sync items in the Apple ecosystem. In essence, it works like a shelf where you can put anything you need to save, and the data is synchronized through iCloud.
Drag and drop anything you want to store
The application has a minimalist UI, including a basic window where you can place links, images, files, text or anything else you want to save. It is designed to be used with any application that supports drag and drop, but you can also just paste content in the old-fashioned way.
Some applications may be better than others, and the type of content is also important. I have no problem adding things from Safari or Chrome, but Firefox sometimes has problems.
Organize and find saved items
After adding certain content to Gladys, you can change the title of the item, add useful notes or additional tags, which makes it easier for you to filter the content and find what you need. If you know what you are looking for, you can also find it in Gladys directly from Spotlight.
In addition, you can lock items with a password, run a Google search, display files in Finder, open URLs, add items to the reading list or share them directly.
Also, if you have a large collection that you want to transfer to an unsupported device, or just back it up, you can package everything into a ZIP archive file and then import it.
iCloud sync and extensive customization options
The application is also available for iOS, iPadOS and watchOS, and synchronization is handled directly through iCloud. Just make sure you enable the feature from the app’s preferences.
There, you can also check out all the other options that are customizable. For example, you can configure a hotkey to move the application to the menu bar, enable label creation from more types of content, increase annotations and label visibility, and so on.
Overall, Gladys is an excellent app for users who want to store and synchronize content between Mac and iPhone, iPad or Apple Watch. It is full of useful features and has recently been completely free, so there is no reason not to try it.
