Our story began in 2006 when Jalal Abu-Gazaleh, our founder, began supplying premium 5-star hotels throughout Cairo with premium meat and seafood. Introducing outstanding Australian beef to the Egyptian market revealed a demand for such products in Cairo society. Customer satisfaction became the cornerstone of our mission to redefine the grocery shopping experience, transforming it from a chore into a delightful journey.

Conveniently located near the Maadi Ring Road, Gourmet Egypt opened its doors in 2008, offering a wide variety of delicious products sourced from around the world that were not easily found in regular retail stores. Our portfolio included everything from Italian and French farmhouse cheeses to authentic pastas, spices and Asian fusion ingredients.

With nearly a decade of expertise in premium food retailing, Gourmet Egypt has become synonymous with quality and excellence. When import restrictions were implemented in 2015, we saw challenges ahead. As a customer-centric business, maintaining our established standards and ensuring uncompromising quality became our highest priority.

This led to the creation of Handcrafted by Gourmet, with two production facilities staffed by talented and passionate chefs who transform beloved household recipes into a variety of soups, salads, baked goods and convenient convenience and ready meals. . Our portfolio expanded to include fresh and frozen items made with the best local and imported ingredients.
