What’s new

This one is huge: We’ve massively improved the performance and rendering speed of Gravit Designer, so it should be smooth as butter no matter what type of design you’re working on.

Another improvement we are particularly proud of is EPS compatibility. EPS files should now open flawlessly, give better results and load much faster.

This update will download and install automatically over the next few days if you are using Gravit Designer 3.4.5 or later. It will also be available from the app stores again later this week. Finally, you can download it on our website as well.

Error corrections

• Fixed performance issues in the Mac desktop app.
• Removed redundant blur filter.
• Fixed problem with incorrect spacing between certain font families.
• Fixed the “Missing Fonts” dialog no longer blocking the font selection.

New functions

• Illustrator (AI) file import: Files saved with the “Create PDF Compatible File” option can now be opened in Gravit Designer. A message will appear in case the file is not compatible.
• Version History: Access up to 20 previous versions of your designs stored on Gravit Cloud. Continue working from another point, restore a critical element or see how the design evolved. It can be accessed from File → Show Version History. Read more in this article.

Improvements

• Fixed some errors with registration and user accounts.
• Massive improvements to rendering performance. Gravit Designer should perform much better in all situations now.
• Increased compatibility of EPS files. They should open without any errors now.
• Generally improved load times for all types of files.
• The dividing line between the Pages and Layers panels can now be moved to allow more space for both.
• Removed “Mask” blend modes to prevent confusion. Use one of the methods shown in this video to mask content instead.
• Brought back “Fit All” in the toolbar by popular demand. Always listening to our users. 🙂
• Added a warning about linked images (File → Link Image…), that they will not be available when you open the file on another computer or in the web app.
• Added a couple of new presets including Apple Watch 4, new iPhones, Google Pixel 2/XL and more.
• Removed the Retina Display option in the Export dialog (File → Export → Export…) as this term is quite outdated. For example, use the size field with “2x” instead.
• Our support team can now be reached from the brand new support form. Connected it in Help → Contact Us in the menu bar.
• Hidden layers are no longer considered for snapping.
• In turn, locked layers are now considered for snapping, and they also display smart guides.
• Improved precision for placement and size of SVG files.
• Further improved export elements with borders to SVG.
• Made sure the files were finished saving when closing Gravit Designer.
• Locked layers can now be used as “Key Objects”: When you select multiple layers next to a locked element, the other elements are aligned to the locked layer. Please watch this video.

Error corrections

• Fixed a bug that prevented cloud files from being exported to PDF.
• Finally eradicated the “Loading has failed” error.
• Dashed and dashed lines are now displayed correctly in imported SVG files.
• Locked layers are no longer affected by alignment.
• PDF export:
• Fixed several issues that prevented designs from exporting.
• Semi-opaque elements (patterns, groups) are now correctly exported.
• Fixed some errors when uploading a profile picture and added a proper error message.
• Shows the correct message again when trying to close a file with unsaved progress.
• We continued to improve the SVG import and fixed various bugs.
• Fixed a bug with toggling the visibility of layers.
