An easy-to-use macOS status bar menu application that can automatically eject a user-specified type of external disk before your computer enters sleep mode
New features of Jettison 1.8.4:
- Corrected the issue of remounting locked and encrypted APFS volumes.
- If the icon for the application cannot be found, the error message will display the generic application icon.
- The error window will correctly display error messages in dark mode, when a specific error cannot be determined.
- Fixed the error report, so the error message will be displayed consistently when using “Eject and Sleep Now”.

Unplugging external drives without successfully unmounting them first will eventually lead to disk failure and data loss: abandon It is a small Mac application that ensures that all connected drives are unmounted when you put your Mac to sleep so that you can unplug them directly.
Inconspicuous status bar menu, you can monitor installed disks and eject them by themselves
After startup, Jettison will place a small icon in your status bar, through which you can quickly access a small menu through which you can manually eject all disks, eject and enable sleep mode, or just put your Mac to sleep. However, the application can also perform some of these tasks on its own.
To let you know whether a task has been successfully executed, Jettison provides audio notifications. For convenience, the app also allows you to define global hotkeys for frequently used functions.
Easily personalize the way Jettison handles external disks
Through the Jettison Preferences window, you can quickly adjust the default behavior of the application: the application can eject the external drive before the system goes to sleep, or if your Mac restarts or shuts down.
In addition, you can specify the types of disks to be processed automatically: hard disks, DVDs and CDs, disk images, network drives, or SD cards. In addition, you can choose to reinstall the drive when you wake up, or reload the driver to reinstall the flash drive (a helper application needs to be installed).
Low-profile external drive manager that can automatically eject and reinstall disks
Jettison does not need to manually uninstall external drives before unplugging them: you can quickly trigger the uninstall process, or you can let the application handle it by putting the computer to sleep. All in all, if you want to reduce the risk of disk failure due to improper use, Jettison is a great tool.
