The Lighthouse
The Lighthouse capabilities can be used via a Google Chrome extension that proves to be quite user-friendly, or you can incorporate it into other systems as a command line app or Node module.
Webpage audit tools that integrate with your Chrome browser
To deploy the Lighthouse extension, you need to navigate to the appropriate Chrome Store page in the host application and press the “Add to Chrome” button. The add-on’s icon will be automatically placed next to the address bar, and you must activate its panel to start the audit process.
Within the Lighthouse Options window, you get to specify which test you want to run on the web pages: Progressive Web App, Performance, Accessibility, and Best Practices. Note that you get to disable any of them with a simple mouse click.
The Lighthouse presents the audit results in a separate tab and keeps the data organized by category. At the same time, Lighthouse generates graphs depicting the status of each group and employs the red and green color labels to let you know if there the situation is good or critical.
Analyze the audit results and identify the areas that need improvements
For your convenience, the Lighthouse report can be sent directly to the printer, you can copy the JSON data to your clipboard, or you can save the data locally to an HTML or JSON file.
Bottom line, Lighthouse helps you audit your web pages and run multiple tests in a very user-friendly manner. The report points out precisely the areas that require improvements and can be analyzed on the spot or saved locally and shared with others.
