Even with the introduction of Stage Manager, window management on macOS leaves something to be desired. There’s no easy way to move and resize windows on the desktop, which is especially necessary on smaller monitors.

ring is a window management application similar to Rectangle, but with some differences. It allows you to resize and move windows to certain locations on your desktop, and it comes with an interesting radial menu to make the process more intuitive.

If you’re already using a similar window manager, the most prominent feature will be the radial menu. When activated with a selected modifier, it will appear on your screen and allow you to visually determine where the selected window should be moved.

The preview rectangle will indicate exactly where the window will be and how its size will change. The preview itself can be customized or disabled entirely.

While hotkeys can also be used to move windows, they can be difficult to remember, and nothing is more user-friendly than a visual menu that allows mouse or trackpad control.

On the other hand, some users hate taking their hands off the keyboard, which can definitely help you be more productive. To this end, the radial menu trigger modifier can also be used in conjunction with the arrow keys to move and resize windows without moving the mouse.

The default bindings are great, but you can also customize them and add new bindings. Some hotkeys will cycle through multiple options when triggered again, and you can add or remove options from all key combinations.

Of all the window management applications, Loop is probably the easiest to get used to. The radial menu is very intuitive, and you can start using the hotkeys once you become more familiar with the system. There are also tons of behavior and appearance settings to customize, making it a versatile tool for just about anyone.
