MecaNet is a community driven open source project based on the core curriculum of the Xerox Parc project. MecaNet consists of an easy-to-use graphical user interface (GUI), rapid application development (RAD) environment, text editor, data dictionary, and middleware for network and server file access. MecaNet is an educational computer application that can be used by non-technical personnel who wish to learn how to use various aspects of operating systems. It’s free and available to everyone. This product was developed by multimedia consultants in Australia under contract with Xerox Parc with the support and assistance of Xerox networking and operating systems specialists.

This typing course has been formatted to be very easy to follow and understand. Each lesson is illustrated with screenshots and detailed instructions. The included typing practice applet allows students to practice the typing techniques taught in the typing course. This typing applet is compatible with the Windows operating system.
