Image metadata is very helpful for organizing images and is often added automatically by cameras and mobile phones. However, sometimes data is incomplete or needs to be corrected.

meta copy is an open source application that provides you with an easy way to transfer metadata from one image to multiple other images. It has a very simple user interface that allows you to choose which details to copy.

It’s all very simple: you put the source image on the left and the target image on the right. If you want to transfer metadata to the entire album, you can delete the entire folder. A preview will appear, which can help ensure you have the correct file.

Assuming the source photo has metadata information attached, it will appear below the preview. You can sort entries by name or prefix and select which of them should be copied. This is all very simple, but it would help if the entries could be divided into different categories (such as GPS and sensor information).

MetaCopy is useful if you need to quickly transfer some metadata between images, but it can become a bit more difficult if you need to work with multiple sets of photos, or if the album is very large.

Written entirely in Swift, the app has a clean, intuitive interface and runs as fast as you’d expect. It also comes in a very small package.

Of course, MetaCopy would be more versatile and have some additional features, but the limited feature set is a benefit in itself. As long as you’re not working on hundreds of photos at once, you can transfer metadata in less time than it would take to launch a more complex application.
