With interactive desktop widgets now a thing, app developers can get a lot more creative in macOS Sonoma.
One Task is among the simpler apps to come about, designed to help you get through your task list one at a time. It will display a single task via a desktop widget, which you can click to complete said task and move on to the next one.
Purposely simple design
You can find tons of complex task managers out there, and for someone looking to micromanage their daily schedule, they may be superior. But if all you want is a straightforward way to queue up and complete tasks, One Task is ideal.
The app is intended to help you focus on a specific task, which can be picked from the bottom or top of the list, as well as randomly. You won’t see another till you complete the current task, so you’ll be less likely to postpone it, which I think works quite well in practice.

Takes advantage of Sonoma widgets
While it can be used with just Notification Center widgets, One Task works best when the widgets are placed on your desktop. There are several sizes to choose from, though the larger ones are only useful if the task title is particularly long.
Tasks are added and picked from a list that is only visible while the app is open. Close the app, and the widgets will remain on your desktop. When you complete a task, a new one is selected based on your preferences, without having to open the app again.
Ideal for unobtrusive task scheduling
One Task works great if you have a list of tasks that need to be completed within a short timeframe. Aside from changing their order, you can’t really organize them, but that shouldn’t be an issue given the app’s scope.
