There are many macOS features that are not easy to turn on or off, and some cannot be disabled at all.

Useful switches in the menu bar

The app itself is pretty simple. It adds an icon to the menu bar that you can use to access a set of switches. Among them, you can hide the MacBook Pro notch, hide desktop icons, enable night shift, show hidden files, and toggle auto-hiding of the Dock and menu bar.

If some of these switches are not necessary, you can disable them from the application’s preferences. Some aren’t even enabled by default, so be sure to check them out in case you find some of them useful.

Hide notches, listen to radio stations, and more

Of course, everyone’s needs are different, and some features of the app are definitely not for everyone. If you own a 2021 MacBook Pro with its characteristic notch, OnlySwitch allows you to blend it with the rest of the menu bar, and it even supports live wallpapers.

The app even has an integrated player if you like listening to online radio. You can add your own stations and choose your favorite stations from the settings. The player is accessible and can be controlled from the menu bar.

Apple does make some things more difficult to access than we’d like, and apps like OnlySwitch try to fix that. Considering it’s completely free and open source, if any of its switches sound useful, there’s no reason not to grab it.
