On macOS, you can choose to use QuickTime to quickly record audio content, but few customization options are available. Piezoelectric is a small utility that lets you record with multiple sources and includes support for various output settings without having to deal with complicated tools.

Capturing audio content with Piezo is ultimately a click away, but you can make some simple adjustments beforehand: you can change the input source and output quality.

Piezo works with any audio device connected to your Mac, while also being able to record content from specific applications. This way, you can capture Skype or FaceTime conversations, stream music, DVD soundtracks, and more.

Easily adjust audio output to suit your needs

The Piezo settings panel lets you easily assign names to new tracks, add your own comments, and choose one of the built-in output presets. Piezo is able to create recordings with different quality levels: High, Low or Spoken for personal use or internet distribution.

After the recording process is over, in the main Piezo window, you’ll be able to see the filename and a small search button that quickly opens the folder containing the output file in a new Finder window. In Piezo Preference, you can change the default output directory and choose to display output files automatically.
