Secure Exam Browser is a web-based environment for conducting online exams securely. it temporarily takes control of system usagepreventing exam takers from accessing unauthorized resources.

in contrast tExamSoft and similar tools, SEB is not a rating tool. It’s just an exam environment, but powerful. It disables operating system features and shortcuts, Internet browsing, and provides users with reliable detection systems.

Deployment

SEB is Compatible with most web-based exams and learning management systems. You can use it in conjunction with applications such as Moodle, ILIAS and OpenOlat.

The program runs on Windows, macOS, iPad, and Chromebook devices. The latest versions have added webcam support.

Custom protection

SEB has a full screen mode and multiple browser modes. In the latter case, it removes all navigation elements from the page. It also has a URL filter and a virtual machine detector. It disables spell checking and dictionary lookups, as well as switching to other applications using hotkeys.

t The program is easy to set up, allowing exam creators to tailor features based on circumstances. You can allow certain features, enable third-party apps, and allow full web apps, PDFs, and HTML documents.

Design and customization

SEB consists of two components: a kiosk application and a browser. The kiosk blocks other computer functions by running only the SEB browser and allowed third-party applications. The browser element displays the exam page connected to the learning management system.

The UI then displays the navigation for the exam only. A carefully thought-out authentication process verifies that the unmodified version of the program performs the exam with the correct settings.

If you are using SEB with a third party service such as Moodle, you will have to visit the settings in your program. You need to select “Require SEB” among the settings to ensure student compliance.

Almost complete protection

Safe Exam Browser is a great addition to traditional online exam tools. It’s a pity that it doesn’t work on smartphones either, excluding any possibility of cheating, but it performs its main function clearly and efficiently.
