Sonic visualization is a simple cross-platform application designed for musicologists, archivists, signal processing researchers and users interested in visualizing and analyzing audio files.

Instantly generate waveforms and visualize spectrograms for your audio files

With the help of Sonic Visualiser, you’ll be able to study music recordings and perform in-depth analysis of the audio using the tools provided. Therefore, you can load audio files in WAV, OGG and MP3 formats and generate their waveforms.

Most of the tools and features provided by Sonic Visualiser are easily accessible from the top toolbar, while the right panel helps you switch between layers with just a few mouse clicks.

Adjust parameters and use dynamic spectrograms

The resulting spectrogram view is interactive, allowing you to easily adjust and display various parameters. With the help of the context menu, you can use the spectrogram to quickly add new layers, and easily edit, rename and delete layers.

Additionally, Sonic Visualiser enables you to add multiple panes, each with its own set of layers that you can add, delete, and edit. Thus, you can process multiple spectrograms simultaneously and perform detailed and accurate analysis of your files.

In addition, Sonic Visualiser provides powerful annotation tools to help you write notes, describe your findings, add marked time points, define segments, curves, and point values. You can also choose to overlay annotations on top of each other or on top of the waveform and spectrogram views.
