Entrepreneurship Manager is a free macOS utility designed to help you quickly and easily scan your Mac for numerous items that start automatically at system startup and remove unwanted items with a single mouse click.
That is, once booted on your Mac, Boot Manager will enable you to scan the system for authorized plugins, browser extensions, login/logout hooks, startup scripts, kernel extensions, startup daemons and proxies, library plugins, Login items, Spotlight importers, cron jobs, extensions and widgets, and periodic scripts.
When you have finished scanning your Mac, you can go ahead and disable startup items you no longer need by clicking the Disable or Remove buttons next to each entry, as well as examine each item’s detailed file information and go to its Finder location information and display by clicking button respectively.
It’s worth mentioning that while it’s designed to help you disable logins other than applications configured to start automatically on startup, the Startup Manager app doesn’t actually disable startup daemons created with launchd or the authorization plugin program or agent, despite its interface indicating that it does so when the disable toggle button is clicked.
This can be easily verified by disabling several of them after scanning the startup items enabled on the Mac, closing the applications, and rescanning the system. After the second scan, the launch agents and daemons will still be there instead of being removed or disabled like they should be.
Also, we haven’t found an option to save the changes we’ve made (e.g., disable startup items, remove authorized plugins), nor an option that allows us to enable the Remove some disabled login items button to be greyed out.
All in all, while Startup Manager promises to do a lot for you in managing everything from startup agents and daemons to login items, login/logoff hooks, and kernel extensions, it currently doesn’t do a great job.
To be more precise, it doesn’t remove some of the startup items it detects, and for others, the disable button is grayed out, and there’s no explanation why this happens, as there’s no help manual to describe what the app does .
