ThrottleStop is a new app from Kevin Glynn, a renowned British author and overclocking consultant. Simply put, it is a tool that is designed to counteract the three main aspects of CPU throttling (power throttling, thermal load, and virtual memory) found in most modern computers. It was created as a means to combat the power-hungry behavior of high-end quad-core processors such as the Intel Core 2 Duo, which are often used in professional applications and games. With ThrottleStop, these processors will be idle for longer periods of time, thereby reducing their power consumption. The basic concept is quite simple: when the processor is running at its maximum speed, it doesn’t need to consume as much power.

To use the ThrottleStop utility, you simply need to download it, install it, and then run it on your PC. If you’re using Windows, the app uses a simple graphical user interface (GUI) to monitor all three major aspects of your PC. To do this, the software enters different modes depending on the current settings, such as Windows XP Service Mode, Windows Vista Service Mode, or Windows Vista Home Basic Mode. The software then monitors your PC’s temperature, core frequency, and other metrics before creating a log file with its findings. The report generated by ThrottleStop can be used for a variety of purposes, such as informing you if your computer is overheating, cooling your computer, or monitoring other aspects of your PC’s performance.

As the name suggests, ThrottleStop monitors your PC’s behavior based on the thermal limits set for your processor. It divides your CPU into different groups such as low, medium and high and configures the ThrottleStop software to limit the CPU speed of each group. In the real world, ThrottleStop works the same way. But the software has a number of features that allow it to make smarter decisions about regulating your PC. It detects the difference between low power consumption and overheating, between maximum and minimum temperatures, and between fan and ambient temperatures.
