Most Mac users are used to deleting files and accessing deleted items from the Trash icon in the Dock. However, especially on smaller monitors, it’s common to hide the Dock, making it difficult to delete and restore files without interrupting your workflow.
trash eye Fix this potential problem by placing the trash can icon on the desktop. It allows you to delete items by deleting them as usual, as well as accessing the contents of the trash and emptying it. What’s more, it always shows you a useful file counter.
trash can on desktop
Windows users will agree that it’s not unusual to have a trash can on your desktop. This implementation works well and functions almost identically to the regular icons you’d find in the Dock.
Just like the Dock, the newly added trash can icon is always displayed on top of other windows. It’s also visible in fullscreen mode by default, but you may want to disable it.
Item Counters and Customization
One of the ways this app tries to improve on macOS is by showing you how many items are in the trash at any given time. This can be useful, but the badge is so large that it cannot be resized or disabled. While some people will appreciate the extra visibility, it can be a distraction to others.
Speaking of customization, you can move icons anywhere on the desktop from the context menu. You can also set a hotkey to open the trash folder and hide the optional menu bar icon.
Still a beta, but promising
It would be nice to see more personalization options for the file counter badge, and the icon itself currently looks a little too pixelated, which will stand out on your Mac desktop. Other than that, though, the app works well, and we can only assume it’ll be refined closer to the official launch.
