Server-client architecture requiring port forwarding

Relying on a client/server connection, the application comes with an installer for all its tools. However, keep in mind that UltraVNC Server must be installed on the client computer, while UltraVNC Viewer should be deployed on the host machine.

Unlike other remote access solutions, UltraVNC is not designed for remote support, but only for remote access, mainly because the application requires you to do more complex configuration (port forwarding on the server, requires a static IP address) to make it work properly. While its feature set may compensate you for some of the effort, it can take you hours to get it working on a machine that already has some issues (because remote support is required).

Additionally, the package includes UltraVNC Repeater, which acts as a proxy between the viewer and the server, allowing systems outside the network to access computers within the LAN.

UltraVNC is designed for advanced users and requires port forwarding on the server network to allow incoming client connections. Since configuring it is not trivial, it is recommended that you use it for remote access rather than as a tool for remote support. Despite the tedious configuration, UltraVNC is still a powerful remote access solution with a rich feature set when it comes to remote management.
