Mozilla Firefox is a great web browser, however, it has its drawbacks, namely, it loves to eat up memory. Firefox has always had this problem, and memory leaks are one of the problems that needs to be addressed in order to attract more users.

Firemin is a small application that runs from the system tray and tries to fix Firefox out of memory issues. It works with XP, Vista, Windows 7 and Windows 8 and works in both 32-bit and 64-bit versions.

Due to a memory leak in Firefox, Firemin runs the Memory Cleanup API call several times per second, rather than Windows Memory Management, which performs similar operations less frequently.

Many argue that Firemin is not a verified application and the benefits of using it cannot be quantified. That being said, the app is open source and free to use, so if it works for you, great! If you prefer to use Windows Memory Management to periodically scan for running processes and request that unused memory be freed, then simply select Windows to manage it.
