WhatsApp for Mac is a famous messaging service that has been around for a while. While you can use it on the web, WhatsApp for Mac has launched a desktop app for the Windows and Mac OS X platforms.

This new desktop version of the app will be great for some users as it no longer needs to take up space in your web browser. The new app basically works as an extension of your phone; it reflects messages and conversations from your device.

Using the desktop version of the app has a number of benefits, including proper built-in desktop notifications and improved keyboard shortcuts. You just need WhatsApp to be installed and running on your phone and Mac OS X 10.9 or later.

Using the desktop version on a Mac is very easy; Once you have downloaded and installed the app, you just need to scan the QR code on the screen with your phone using WhatsApp (open WhatsApp, press “Menu” and select “WhatsApp Web”). Then, once it is recognized, the desktop app will be associated with your account.

It’s worth noting that since the desktop app uses your mobile device to sync messages, it’s probably best to make sure it’s connected to Wi-Fi to avoid data overuse.
