Pakistani sealers Mohammad Amir and Wahab Riaz have not renewed their main contracts.

The Pakistan Cricket Board has announced a list of 18 centrally recruited players in three categories for 2020-2021, with Azhar Ali retaining the post of test captain and Babar Azam taking over the reins of the white ball.

Ali, Azam and Shaheen Afridi are the only players in category A, former captain Sarfaraz Ahmed demoted to category B.

Amir, who has 259 wickets for Pakistan in all formats, withdrew from testing in July 2019, but was removed from the category C list for players with limitations.

Left arm Riaz took 228 wickets for his country and last appeared in an international T20 against Australia in November.

Pakistan's head coach Misbah-ul-Haq said: "The philosophy and criteria for this central list of merit-based contracts were simple and straightforward: the coaches reviewed player performance during of the past 12 months and They then saw the requirements of our team in the next 12 months.

The selectors made the difficult decision to leave Amir, Hasan (Ali) and Wahab, but considering that Hasan has missed most of the season due to injury and Amir and Wahab have decided to focus on white ball cricket, it was the right decision.

"However, Amir and Wahab are veteran and seasoned bowlers and still quarrel as we believe they can still contribute to the Pakistan men's cricket team and are also the mentors of our young fast bowler battery . "
