Rail services resume: how to book tickets online on IRCTC website, mobile app

The Ministry of Railways announced on Sunday that passenger train services will gradually resume in India from May 12. Reservations will start at 4 p.m. May 11. As a first step, 15 pairs of trains will run from New Delhi. How to book train tickets on the IRCTC website

To book tickets through IRCTC, you must first have an account on their website. Open the site irctc.co.in and click on the Recording

button at the top of the web page. On this page, fill in details such as your username, password, security questions and answers and your preferred language. Enter your name, gender, date of birth, mobile phone number, email address, residential address and business address. After accepting the terms and conditions, click on the register button to create your IRCTC account.

Those who already have an account or those who have just created their account, click on the red color. Start the session button. Enter your user ID and password here with the captcha code and press Recording.

After logging in, write the origin and destination of your trip in the Book your ticket

box. Select your travel date and your coach class before clicking on the Find trains button. Please note that according to the latest orders, trains will only run from New Delhi Station connecting 15 destinations and will also return from the destination.

You now have a list of trains from which you can choose the desired train and coach class. Indian Railways said the trains would only have air-conditioned cars. A new page opens where you can select your payment option. Choose your preferred mode from the options like credit card, debit card, net banking, UPI and others on your screen. The rate should be visible on the right side of the screen. After making the payment, you will be able to see your ticket information, including train name and number, bus number and mooring number. You can download the ticket using the option given here, although an SMS is also sent to the phone number which, with your valid ID card, is sufficient.

How to book train tickets on IRCTC mobile app

To book with the IRCTC mobile app, click on the login button and enter your user ID, password and captcha code. If you don't have an account, you can click on the sign up button and create a new account by filling in the same details as mentioned above.

After logging in, touch Plan my trip and mention the names of the stations, select the date and press Find trains. You can now choose the train that goes to your desired destination. Also select the bus type by tapping on the train name. Here you can see the availability on the selected train on the date indicated. Please continue booking if places are available. On the next page, add the passenger's name, cell phone number and other details.

In the end, you have to pay by credit card, debit card, net banking, UPI, etc. Choose your preferred mode, write the captcha code and make the payment. You now have the details of your ticket reservation with information such as trainer and mooring number.
