Apex Legends Director Says Game Will Likely Expand “Beyond Battle Royale”

Respawn Entertainment game director Chad Grenier says Apex Legends “Probably” will expand “beyond Battle Royale“.

In an interview with Eurogamer, Grenier revealed that Reappear is already scheduling content until Apex Legends season 12 and that in the future the game can go beyond being a battle royale

.

“Right now we’re a battle royale game. I think if you look to the future we have a lot of conversations about, you know, should we go beyond the actual battle? Grenier said in the interview.

“We have this list of legends that people love, how else can we use them? I think looking into the future you’ll probably see that the game will become more than just a battle royale game. See, we have all these LTMs and other ways to play. I think this is a great place to start.

It is not clear if this means different kinds of modes PvP or maybe even a foray into a fashion PvE, but it’s interesting that Respawn is looking to expand the game.

The game can even take queues Respawn’s Previous Titles Titanfall, possibly with more story missions appearing in the game (like the little ones we saw in Season 5).

Speaking of Fall of the Titans, the most recent card in the game, Olympus, was originally designed as a concept for Titanfall 3.

“At one point, a Titanfall 3 was in the works after the release of Titanfall 2,” Grenier explained in the interview. “And Olympus wasn’t called Olympus at the time, but that style of map was something we were exploring for the next Titanfall game.”

Apex Legends is coming to Steam on November 4 with the launch of Season 7, but the Nintendo Switch version of the game has been delayed.
