Three-person developer KeelWorks announced Cygni: All Guns Blazing, an old-fashioned arcade-style shooter (aka shmup) that won an epic MegaGrant. It arrives on PC with console versions which should follow. A spokesperson for the game said th at the PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X versions are also likely, but not officially confirmed at this time.
The developers describe the story of Cygni as follows: "Encapsulated among the remains of a civilization lost on the planet Cygni, the land forces are decimated by a surprise attack by a powerful extraterrestrial biomechanical race. As one of the last pilots of the Last Carrier in the fleet, you are the only line of defense against unyielding alien bombing. "

KeelWorks developer Nareg Kalenderian is a former Pixar artist, which could help explain the high production value of Cygni compared to the small size of its development team. As for gameplay, "Cygni attacks the eyes, ears and mind to deliver an extraordinarily exhilarating video game experience," say the developers. "Cygni is not looking to reinvent shoot & # 39; em ups, but to elevate the genre to deliver the intense sens ations of a true next generation experience."
