Kingdom Hearts Creator wants to tell a new story 1

Kingdom Hearts creator Tetsuya Nomura has said he wants to tell a new story in the universe and “ drastically ” change the world of Kingdom Hearts, but also address issues left by previous games.

The response from Nomura, when asked about the unsolved mysteries after the release of Kingdom Hearts 3 in 2019, is interesting: “I intend to tie the final details of the story together, but I also want to change the format a bit. . I want to radically change the world and tell a new story, but also tie in the details. This suggests that while a new Kingdom Hearts game can address these loose threads, a whole new game may also be in the works, perhaps moving away from the narrative approach of the series’ protagonist, Sora and his friends. ‘is already being produced in Kingdom Hearts 3 with the introduction of some new characters and worlds, especially in the ReMind DLC which was released in early 2020.

As to whether the next game will appear on next-gen consoles, Nomura had this to say, “If we make a Kingdom Hearts game for next-gen consoles, it will be released after many other companies have already released their titles,” so we think we need to do something that could be competitive. Of course, this is only a guess, as we haven’t announced that there will be a new title for PlayStation 5 or Xbox Series X.

Nomura also said that Xehanort might not come across as the “main antagonist in the story” in future encounters, although his influence on the narrative is still visible. He also mentioned that the team behind Kingdom Hearts “are working to deliver good news” about the franchise for the series’ 20th anniversary in 2022.
