If you’ve used a DualSense before, try switching back to DualShock 4 for a few minutes. Sony’s next-gen controller was once good, but it feels bad in this post-PlayStation 5 world. There’s a general lack of feedback on the pad; the rumble is archaic and the triggers are soft and fragile without any resistance. Frankly, this is silly.
Even the big Xbox hit, Phil Spencer, is a bit on the platform. The always-chatty executive told The Verge that he is “applauding” what the Japanese giant has done with the controller, and that “we should learn from each other and from the innovation we are all driving.” The costume then took a tangent, explaining how every title on the platform should strive to present the next big thing in the game.
Sony has been extremely forward-thinking in recent years, leading the VR movement and now introducing this controller, which lets you feel things that you couldn’t before. We’re excited to see how haptic feedback and adaptive triggers are paired with a possible new PlayStation VR headset, as it could be a marriage made in immersion heaven.
