Red Dead Redemption 2's PC patch delivers sharper textures with no frame rate success

The latest update to Red Dead Redemption 2 for PC has some welcome improvements.

Rockstar finally released last week's release notes Red Dead Redemption 2 Patch for PC. The update was released on Monday, May 4, saving 925 MB.

As expected, he doesn't add any new content to the base game or Red Dead Online. However, what it has in swords are some excellent fixes and several updates. One of these features improves the representation of the texture. Rockstar says that players who set medium or high textures should see sharper textures without missing a frame.

Red Dead Redemption's TAA Sharpening setting is also expanded to allow players to push further for an even sharper image. This should replace the offside solutions that some have used to make the game less blurry.

Other than that, the rest are just bug fixes. Read the full set of release notes below.

  • Improved texture rendering in medium and high quality settings, so the game will now display a higher level of texture detail without affecting frame rate or requiring more system resources.
  • The maximum range of TAA Sharpening graphics settings has been increased, allowing players to make the game less blurry and match the quality available with external controller solutions.
  • Addresses an issue where certain system settings mistakenly report the amount of video memory available for game play.
  • Fixed caching issues causing graphics issues and a lack of user interface occurring after updating the system graphics card.
  • Fixed a rendering issue with shiny / flickering textures near campfires when Parallax Occlusion Mapping was set to Ultra Quality.
  • Fixed a lighting issue causing blocky shadow textures around the player that could occur on some systems while Parallax Occlusion Mapping was set to Ultra quality.
  • Fixed an issue that prevented cloud transition screens from showing up to death / would reappear when the system ran out of video memory.
  • Fixed an issue with occlusion checks that could occur while running DirectX 12, preventing certain missions from progressing in story mode.
  • Fixed a lighting issue causing graphical artifacts to appear around distant trees in certain system configurations when MSAA was active.
  • Fixed an issue with lighting causing effects of scintillating snow particles on certain system configurations with multiple graphics cards.
  • Fixed a water reading issue that caused flickering when running DirectX 12 and the reflection / refraction quality levels of the water were set to Low
  • Fixed a water reading issue causing an incorrect wave simulation in some system configurations using multiple graphics cards
  • Fixed an issue with automatic hardware detection resulting in incorrect configuration of certain system settings as low quality graphics settings on first boot.
  • Addresses an issue that causes an incorrect "Minimum hardware requirements not met" error at startup with some previous system configurations that meet the required specifications.
  • Fixed various crashes that could occur when starting the game on certain hardware configurations.
  • Fixed a crash that occurred during gameplay when there was a lack of system memory, resulting in an ERR_GFX_STATE error.
  • Fixed various crashes that could occur when switching between graphics APIs and display modes in certain system settings.
  • Fixed a crash that could occur by dramatically increasing graphics settings, resulting in a lack of video memory on the system.
  • Fixed various crashes and performance issues when using Intel NUC systems or using integrated graphics hardware.
  • Fixed several random crashes that occurred during gameplay in Story Mode and Red Dead Online.
