Earlier this week, the NDP predicted that Switch is said to be the best-selling console this Christmas season in the United States.

The device appears to be in high demand, with households expected to purchase “multiple” units in the fourth quarter. To this is added the lack of available inventory of new PlayStation and Xbox systems

, which is supposed to leave the Switch as an attractive and “available” option.

It also appears to be a new record. The holder of previous record was Microsoft’s console, Xbox 360, what was that the best-selling console for 21 months (August 2011 – April 2013).

NPD industry analyst Mat Piscatella notes that Switch “is selling at levels never seen before in the US or above”.

Until the date, Switch has sold over 62 million units worldwide and, in August, outperformed NES lifetime sales.
