Terraria is one of the most played games on Steam this week, a whopping nine years after its initial release.
The indie hit got a major boost following the release of its final major update yesterday, which has led to a peak player count of 486,918 users on Steam according to SteamCharts.
An impressive 387,218 players are currently in-game, making Terraria the third most played game as of press time – just under Counter-Strike: Global Offensive and Dota 2. To give that a little perspective, 997,162 users are currently playing Counter-Strike: Global Offensive, while 560,767 players are in Dota 2.
Terraria: Journey’s End – the fourth and final major update for the indie sandbox game – went live yesterday, adding 800 new craftable items, new enemy types, revamped biomes, new weather effects, and an in-game bestiary. But most important of all, perhaps, is the ability to pet the dog:
