With that in mind, it's a relief to hear that Epic's next generation engine, Unreal Engine 5, is also compatible with all platforms in the sun. In addition to the first glimpse, Epic described that the engine would also be compatible with current generation consoles and mobile platforms:

Unreal Engine 5 will be available in preview in early 2021 and in full version in late 2021, compatible with new generation consoles, current generation consoles, PC, Mac, iOS and Android.

In the same article, Epic explained how he designed compatibility with later versions, so that developers can start developing "next generation" in UE4, and then transfer their projects to the new engine when they are ready. .
