Neuroglee raises $ 2.3 million to develop digital therapies for neurodegenerative diseases – Heaven32

Now there are about 50 million people with dementia worldwide, a number that the World Health Organization projects to triple by 2050. Alzheimer’s disease is the leading cause of dementia and caregivers are often overwhelmed without sufficient support.

, a Singapore-based healthcare tech start-up, wants to help with a digital therapy platform created to treat patients in the early stages of the disease. Founded this year to focus on neurodegenerative diseases, Neuroglee today announced that it has raised $ 2.3 million in pre-seed funding.

The cycle was led by Eisai Co., one of Japan’s largest pharmaceutical companies, and Kuldeep Singh Rajput, the founder and CEO of Biofourmis, a predictive health startup.

Neuroglee’s digital prescription therapy software for Alzheimer’s disease, called NG-001, is its flagship product. The company plans to start clinical trials next year. NG-001 is intended to supplement medications and other treatments, and once prescribed by a doctor, patients can access their exercises and cognitive tasks via a tablet.

Neuroglee founder and CEO Aniket Singh Rajput (Kuldeep’s brother) told Heaven32 that his first target markets for NG-001 are the United States and Singapore, followed by Japan. NG-001 must obtain regulatory approval in each country and will first seek approval from the United States Food and Drug Administration.

Once released, doctors will have two ways to prescribe NG-001, either through their healthcare provider’s platform or an electronic prescribing tool. A platform called Neuroglee Connect will give doctors, caregivers and patients access to support, reimbursement and coverage features.

The software tracks patients’ progress, such as finger speed and time taken to complete an exercise, and offers personalized treatment programs. It also has features for treating patients’ mental health, including one that displays images that can bring back positive memories, which in turn can help relieve depression and anxiety when used in conjunction with other cognitive behavioral therapy techniques.

For caregivers and doctors, NG-001 helps them track patient progress and adherence to other treatments, such as medications. This means that healthcare providers can work closely with patients, even remotely, which is especially important during the COVID-19 pandemic.
