Republicans to invite Trump to meet to research potential 2024 candidates and Republican donors, report says

The Republican National Committee plans to invite former President Donald Trump to its spring donor meeting, Politico reported, citing a source close to the planning.
A Trump spokesperson was unable to answer a question about Trump’s intention to be at the high-level Republic meeting, which will take place April 9-11.
The RNC also plans to invite other potential 2024 candidates and prominent GOP figures to the event in Palm Beach, Florida.
The former president has yet to make a public appearance since leaving the White House on the day of Joe Biden’s inauguration on January 20; But he traveled from his Palm Beach club to the nearby Trump International Golf Club.

Some time ago he would have been thinking of a comeback, even expressing his intention to create a third political party, the Patriot Party, which would fracture the Republican establishment, political analysts have increasingly warned. Either way, if he runs for the Oval Office again, the party will remain neutral, said RNC President Ronna McDaniel.
“The party must remain neutral. I’m not telling anyone to run or not to run in 2024, ”McDaniel told The Associated Press when asked if she herself wanted to see Trump run again. He added that it would depend on “the advancement of the candidates”.
“What I really want you to do, however, is help us regain majority in 2022,” he said.
Speaking to the Washington Post, he noted that Trump’s role “will depend on him in many ways.”
“I’m not looking at who we can highlight or prioritize. It’s about where we can take our party and our message, ”he said.
Senate trial: a new step to take
Until now, Republicans have been divided over the former president, his future role and, in particular, whether or not he will lead the party. The upcoming Senate trial following the House decision to indict Trump for “inciting insurgency” on the day of the siege on Capitol Hill Jan.6, further heightened tensions.
However, it is believed that Trump himself is seeking to consolidate his power and ambitions, as clearly shown by Save America PA’s reading of Thursday’s meeting with Republican Minority Leader Kevin McCarthy in Mar-a-Lake.
“President Trump’s popularity has never been as strong as it is today, and his endorsement means more than perhaps any endorsement at any time,” he said.
At the end of the meeting, the former president, still banned from social networks after the attack on the Capitol by his supporters, was officially seen for the first time in an image published by his political action committee.
According to a Rasmussen Reports poll released Thursday, the former president’s upcoming Senate trial for his second House impeachment will end political divisions in the United States. The poll indicated that half of likely U.S. voters (50%) want the Senate to reject impeachment and 45% said Trump should be convicted.
The upper house trial is scheduled to begin on February 9.
