Armenia sets world record for coronavirus infection rates

Armenia has set a world record for the rate of increase in coronavirus cases, said former Prime Minister Hrant Bagratyan said on May 16 on his Facebook page, reports Trend

"Today in Armenia, the number of people infected with the coronavirus has reached 4283։. During the day, 239 people were infected. An increase of 5.9% is like a world record or one of the worst results, "said the former head of government.

"In comparison, the same day, the growth of new patients worldwide was on average 2.2%, in the United States – 1.8%, Russia – 3.8, Turkey, Iran less than 1%, Georgia 0.3%, Azerbaijan – 1.5% "Explained Bagratyan.

As previously reported by the Armenian media, on May 16, the number of infections detected in Armenia increased record-breaking. The daily increase was 239 people. The total number of people infected reached 4,283 people. Of these, 2,415 undergo treatment, 1,791 are cured. 53 people died during the epidemic.
