China unveils pandemic T1 smart glasses that "see" people's temperatures in real time

A Chinese startup that develops augmented reality glasses for everyday use, or for other applications such as manufacturing and games, has modified one of its products with a thermal sensor to create pandemic glasses . These glasses can detect potential COVID-19 carriers by scanning body temperature.

Pandemic glasses are called T1 glasses and are developed by the startup based in Hangzhou Rokid. The glasses help the user to detect the symptoms common to carriers of COVID-19 at an advanced stage, such as high body temperatures,

Rokid vice president Xiang Wenjie said demand for augmented reality glasses has increased with 1,000 pairs purchased by governments, industrial parks and schools.

"In addition to the fixed temperature measurement, T1 can provide fast and remote portable temperature control, which would be of great help," said Xiang.

The glasses have an infrared sensor and a camera that allow the user to "see" people's temperatures. Updated versions are coming, which will allow the user to take multiple readings at once in public spaces.

The evolution of digitalization of people with portable or fixed thermal cameras will eventually switch to pandemic glasses, this is already happening in a business center in Hangzhou.

"With the launch of new products, especially these glasses, we think we can use them to make non-contact temperature measurements, they are very effective in dealing with a large crowd of people," said Jin Keli, president of Greentown Property Management.

Amazon could consider glasses in the event of a pandemic, since it equips its warehouses with fixed thermal cameras to monitor employee temperatures.

Now we can imagine the future: Pandemic drones turning upstairs with thermal sensors, looking for COVID-19 carriers, while law enforcement officers in the field wearing pandemic goggles do the same.

Please bring us back to a pre-crown world! The post-crown world is dystopian like the surveillance status is being introduced. It is only a matter of time before people start to wear clothes that block their thermal signature from the thermal sensors.
