BMW 8 Series: everything you need to know

The BMW 8 Series was launched in India as the company's new flagship offering and sits above the flagship 7 Series sedan. The new four-door coupe is offered in India in two variants – 840i Gran Coupe at the price of 1.29 crore and 840i Gran Coupe M Sport Edition, which will cost you 1.55 crore (all prices except showroom India). Globally, the BMW 8 Series Gran Coupé is offered with four powertrain options – 840i, 840i xDrive, M850i ​​xDrive and 840d xDrive diesel. However, India only gets the rear-drive 840i (RWD) version. 1. The 8 Series is essentially an improved replacement for the 6 Series, and is offered globally in the Coupé, Cabriolet and Gran Coupé body styles. India, however, only gets the 8 Series Gran Coupé and the M8 Coupé performance.
2. The Indian Spec 8-Series is only available in the entry-level 840i variant which is powered by a 3.0 liter inline six cylinder petrol engine which produces 333 hp at 6,500 rpm and 500 Nm of peak torque between 1600 and 500 rpm.
3. The engine is mated to a standard eight-speed Steptronic Sport automatic transmission that sends power to the rear wheels.
4. The 8 Series can display three-digit speeds in 5.2 seconds and can also reach a top speed of 250 km / h.
