UK to monitor safety of Chinese academics

British diplomats to conduct security investigation of Chinese academics who wanted to do research in the UK on ‘sensitive’ topics such as artificial intelligence, chemistry, physics, mathematics, computer science and engineering , reports The Times. The Foreign Office has warned UK universities about the move amid fears of intellectual property theft and “national security” concerns. The warning follows security concerns voiced by European institutions about Chinese students last year.
