Active Webcam is a webcam software that allows the user to view the camera from their computer screen. It uses HTML5 technology, works with most web browsers and can be downloaded for free. Active Webcam uses a Windows-based platform and can be viewed using Windows XP, Windows Vista or Windows 7. I really like the blue aperture model because the light from the camera is very subtle. Models with infrared illuminators can be used to see in the dark and can be a great tool if you want to spy on your kids. They can also be useful to have if you suspect your spouse may be messaging someone online.

The best thing about this product is that you can run two different programs at the same time and then switch between them with just one click. If one IP camera stops working, you can simply turn off Active Webcam and open another one. Another important feature to consider is that the software allows you to record at least 30 frames per second, which is the recommended speed for an IP camera to ensure the clearest image and sound possible.
