Given that replacing batteries on Apple devices is difficult and expensive, it is understandable why people try to keep them as long as possible.

Ardent Designed to prevent the battery from being fully charged to 100%, thereby helping users to maximize battery life. This should help keep the battery in good condition for a long time, which is not easy for you to do.

Why is it helpful?

When running between 30% and 80% of the maximum charge, the lithium-ion battery in the MacBook degrades the least. Although it is not very difficult to prevent the power of a notebook computer from falling below 30%, it is not really feasible to pay attention to preventing its power from reaching 100% when charging.

The macOS battery health management feature is designed to help you solve this problem, but it does not just set an upper limit for the charge level. It will try to consider your usage and charging method, which is understandable, because Apple can’t just limit the power of the entire battery.

Set the preferred maximum charge level

After running the application, you will find it in the menu bar. From here, you can set the upper limit of the chargeable MacBook battery. AlDente works by writing this value to the SMC (System Management Controller) of the laptop.

The app will then run automatically when you log in and prevent your device from charging for more than that percentage. Usually 80% is recommended, but you can set any other value.

Use macOS battery scale…or use macOS battery scale

Although you can choose to disable the macOS battery charge gauge introduced in version 1.2, the percentage should be more accurate at higher percentages, but as the charge decreases, it seems less accurate, but the choice will not be between the two startups. It persists, so you can almost disable it.

The most important thing is: if you want to keep your MacBook’s lifespan within a few years, AlDente should help, at least in terms of battery. This is more stringent than the “battery health management” macOS feature, but in the long run, this may be a wise move.
