BootIt Collection is an all-in-one package that contains both BootIt Bare Metal and BootIt UEFI, two powerful boot and partition management tools. In other words, the suite provides multiboot software for now legacy BIOS systems and UEFI systems.

Start by creating your bootable image

The archive contains an application called “MakeDisk”, which provides one-click access to the deployment wizard. As such, you are taken step by step through creating a bootable disc that hosts one of the BootIt apps mentioned above. You can choose between BIOS and UEFI PC platforms and select which partition manager program to use: BootIt Bare Metal or Image for DOS (GUI).

The wizard allows you to verify the desired video method and resolution, and toggle mouse support, if desired. The resulting disk image may have PATA or SATA support. In addition, the guide comes with several options related to geometry and MBR that more advanced users will certainly appreciate. Once you have burned your ISO image to a disc, you can boot from it and take advantage of the features of BootIt Bare Metal or Image for DOS (GUI).

Back up and restore partitions

Image for DOS (GUI) provides an easy way to create backup images of single partitions or even entire drives on your computer. The generated backup files are fully compatible with Image for Windows.

The same application can restore or validate a backup or completely copy partitions to facilitate migration to a larger disk.

Configure your multi-boot system

If you choose to use BootIt Bare Metal, be aware that working with an expert level partition manager that can alter boot options requires a bit of experience, so as not to damage system functionality.

With the help of this particular application, you can easily create, copy, move, delete or resize partitions. Conversion operations are also possible and keep in mind that MBR, EMBR and GPT disks are supported by the application.

Dealing with common boot issues is much easier, thanks to BootIt Bare Metal’s built-in BCD editor. Additionally, it is possible to boot multiple operating systems from a single partition, as the application automatically detects them and adds them to the boot menu.
