Call of Duty 2 is the second part of the Call of Duty series developed by Infinity Ward. It’s a first-person shooter that runs on Windows and Mac OS X devices. In COD 2, you take on the role of young soldiers whose only duty is to fight in a war. You will fight in three intertwined campaigns, each with its own time period. The plot is predominantly linear, but you can switch between campaigns to explore each country – Stalingrad, Africa, and France – at your own pace.

Gameplay

Call of Duty 2 lets you relive World War II from the perspective of four soldiers: two from the British Army, one from the US Army, and one from the Red Army. All of these COD playable characters have a total of 27 missions. The game starts in Russia, where you play as Private Vasily Kozlov. Your first mission is in Stalingrad, where tasks can be as mundane as reconnecting telephone wires or critically blocking Stalingrad City Hall.

You can only carry two firearms in combat. You can change your weapons to whatever you find on the battlefield. The second campaign will push you against the Germans. Playing as Sergeant John Davis, you will crawl, crouch and climb various obstacles to complete a surprise attack on the troops of the German Afrika Korps. By the end of your mission, the Germans should no longer have a supply station, but they will continue to advance despite the lack of resources. You can add frag bombs and smoke bombs to your arsenal, or complete your firearms with additional tools.

The metal scope will help you shoot more accurately, and the compass on the head-up display will allow you to see the surrounding enemies at a glance. In the second half of this campaign, you will play as a tank commander stationed in Libya. The final campaign is a turning point in the game as it takes place on D-Day. In the role of Corporal Bill Taylor, you must destroy a German artillery battery and keep it from a massive German counteroffensive. This is where the game uses personal, melee combat.

Call of Duty 2 is a difficult game as you are low ranking soldiers with no control over the war. The game offers a deep storyline, but you can still understand the game even as you go through the missions. The developers of Infinity Ward scattered weapons and other resources throughout the game to keep you focused on your mission. Overall, the game offers a historically accurate storyline that mimics real combat and physical reactions.
