The Windows version of DevToys has been hugely popular since it launched a few months ago, and it didn’t take long for macOS ports to pop up. Although this is a separate project and there are some differences between the two, it provides most of the same functionality.

DevToys for Mac Provides developers with a set of tools to make everyday tasks a little easier. It helps you avoid web-based utilities and single-purpose applications by integrating everything into a native desktop application that’s always available when you need it.

Separate macOS port

It is worth noting that the current macOS and Windows versions of DevToys do not share code and are managed by different developers. However, the two teams are planning to collaborate on future releases.

The main differences between the two are as follows: some tools in the macOS version require an internet connection, while the Windows version works offline, they do not function exactly the same, and the UI layout is slightly different.

Toolset useful for developers

The design of the app is very simple, and the dashboard lists all the available tools. These all open in the same window, and you can also access them from the sidebar. What’s more, the search function makes it easier to find what you’re looking for.

The Windows version of DevToys comes with smart detection of the appropriate tool to highlight clipboard content. This is not available on macOS. Instead, the Mac version includes some online features that Windows doesn’t.

Pretty basic but promising macOS port

While some work still needs to be done to align the Mac version of DevToys with the Windows version, the project is off to a good start. The app is written in Swift, so it’s fast and lightweight, and it should be easy to implement additional features in the future.
