John’s background switcher is an intuitive application that displays a slideshow of images on your desktop at user-defined intervals.

Pictures come from multiple sources, be it local drives or online platforms. The application supports the most popular file types such as JPG, GIF, BMP, PNG, TIF and WMF.

After initialization, John’s Background Switcher creates an icon in the system tray area from which you can access the configuration panel and make any necessary adjustments.

You can create as many collections as you want and import them from your computer, Facebook, Flickr, Instagram, RSS Photos, Picasa and Google Images, among other sources.

They can be scheduled to switch at specific intervals (ranging from 10 seconds to 7 days), in specific modes (e.g. fit to screen, quad montage, random) and across multiple monitors (e.g. different pictures on each monitor).

Throughout our evaluation, we encountered no issues; the app did not hang, crash, or pop up error dialogs.
