Firmware upgrade warning:
– If the current code level on the device is based on FW2 or FW3, it may take up to 20 minutes to update the device to FW7 code
– This is a one-time issue transitioning a device from FW2 or FW3 to FW7
– To find out if a device is currently running FW2 or FW3 based code, check the firmware version on the device. Codes based on FW2 and FW3 will have the following release formats: ATL.03x.yyy or ATL.02x.yyy, CB.03x.yyy or CB.02x.yyy, PP.03x.yyy or PP.02x.yyy, YK. 03x.yyy or YK.02x.yyy
Firmware downgrade warning:
– Devices manufactured with xxxxx.080.001 or newer firmware cannot downgrade firmware below the manufacturing level
– For all other devices, it is strongly recommended not to perform a firmware downgrade
– Downgrading firmware from a newer primary firmware EC to an older primary firmware EC will result in loss of applications, security features and settings.
– Contact Lexmark Technical Support and refer to KB article SO8017 for more information on the impact of the downgrade.
– Make sure the firmware you download is the correct firmware for the product you own
Learn about firmware nomenclature:
Starting from FW4, firmware versions are named with the pattern ABCDD.xxy.zzz, where:
– A indicates whether the printer is monochrome or color (M = monochrome, C = color)
– B indicates whether the printer is a single function printer or a multifunction printer (S = single function printer (SFP), X = multifunction printer (MFP))
– C indicates whether the UI is touchscreen, non-touchscreen or “reduced feature set” (T=touchscreen, 4.3″ or larger screen, N=non-touchscreen and non-lite, L=lite)
– DD tells the model family
– xx indicates major firmware EC version and y indicates minor firmware EC version (050 = FW5.0, 051 = FW5.1, etc.)
– zzz tells the version number in the firmware EC
– FW2 or FW3 firmware versions are named with the pattern DD.xxy.zzz using the same mapping as above. However, the DD model family used on FW2 and FW3 changes on FW4 and newer: ATL on FW2 and FW3 becomes AT on FW4 and newer, CB on FW2 and FW3 changes to FW4 and newer For AT, YK becomes PP on FW2 and FW3 FW4 and newer
– Make sure the firmware you download is the correct firmware for the product you own
About printer and scanner firmware:
Before considering installing this firmware, please go to your device’s system information page to ensure that the currently installed version is not newer or matches this version.
If you upgrade to this release, imaging devices receive print and scan quality improvements, new options added to the settings menu, feature enhancements, various fixes, and other changes that improve stability.
Given the number of devices and manufacturers, and the variety of ways to upgrade imaging units, we recommend that you read the installation steps and start the firmware update process only after you become familiar with the process.
Besides that, it is best to perform this task in a stable power environment, such as one secured by a UPS unit. Also, make sure not to turn off the imaging device or use its buttons during the installation to avoid any glitches.
So, if you plan to apply this release, click the download button and install the package. Remember to check our website as often as possible so you don’t miss any new releases.
It is strongly recommended to always use the latest driver version available.
Try setting a system restore point before installing the device driver. This will help if you have incorrect or mismatched drivers installed. Problems can arise when your hardware device is too old or no longer supported.
