mnemonic is a straightforward flashcard app with powerful spaced repetition options to help you improve your learning process.

The program uses an advanced algorithm to display cards that are scheduled to repeat.

Users are free to rate their answers on a scale of 0-5, and based on this particular selection, the app schedules the next repetition of the card. That way, you can focus on the difficult cards instead of wasting time on things you already know.

Mnemosyne lets you create your own database with flashcards, and you can add new cards to the list by choosing a type (front to back, front to back and back to front, or glossary).

You can insert images (e.g. JPG, BMP, PNG, GIF, TIF), audio files (WAV, MP3, OGG), videos (e.g. MOV, MP4) and Flash files (SWF file format), choose an initial level, add tags, Preview cards, edit or delete cards, and view a list with all generated flashcards and see details about them such as question, answer, tags, grade, next and last repetition.

What’s more, you can import data from pre-made Mnemosyne databases, SuperMemo collections, and text files, export study data (including decks of questions and answers) to MEM database files, and synchronize with other computers.

Learning Progress Statistics

Mnemosyne provides detailed information about the current card (e.g. level, ease, learned repetitions, misses, average thinking time) and displays graphs recording data on various topics, such as ease, level, cards learned and added, retention scores and Plan card. Additionally, the tool lets you find duplicate questions and deactivate cards.

Several tuning parameters are at your disposal to help you display new cards in the order they were added or in random order, change card text according to font, font style, size and color, and change the background color of cards.
