There’s not much innovation in the music player’s design, but the app has a fairly sleek, almost cartoonish design that’s eye-catching while remaining functional. Thanks to the cross-platform functionality, you can access this application on macOS and Windows.

You can upload songs from your computer or insert their YouTube or Soundcloud links and the app will recognize them. If they happen to have cover art, it will be displayed on the main layout.

What’s more, if you add a song from YouTube or Soundcloud and then change it by adding effects, you can download the new version directly to your computer.

What sets this app apart from others is the pitch-shifting, time-stretching, and reversing features it can introduce into your music in real time.

So while listening, we want to lower the pitch of the song. It’s already a dark song, and this makes it even more somber. We also extended its runtime slightly and turned it into an atmospheric, buzzy clip that we looped through the app.

Further adjustments can be made via the EQ and FX menus, for changing audio filters and effects respectively. There’s also a MIDI Synth section that lets you customize the synthesizer’s controls.

Music Player is a promising application and the features it offers are undoubtedly attractive. Unfortunately, its navigation is slow, and the program seems to have trouble handling links from YouTube or Soundcloud in particular.

The songs took a long time to appear – over 30 seconds – and there was also considerable delay in manipulating our music through the effects on offer.
